A 2.3 mile walk away. It is an excellent walk via the Howk. You will find a path to the Howk starts from Whelpo village (you can park there to shorten the walk if you want). Cross the hump-backed bridge to your left, then turn R and follow the "permissive path to the Howk", parallel to the Caldbeck, = the cold stream. The Howk is a limestone gorge with gorge-ous flora.
Otherwise, drive and use free parking in the cengtre of the village, or visitor's parking with donations box, up the first L turn in the village.
